KAU19 prices broke KRW 40,000 in December and reaching a peak of KRW 40,900 before sliding to KRW 38,100 on the year’s last day of trading. Intraday trade volume has fallen significantly with daily volumes only ranging between 1,500 tons to 24,000 tons while bilateral trade increased accounting for 81.7% of December’s trading volume.


The market had a shortage in 2018 which will continue through 2019 according to forecasts. However, changes in the country’ emissions will result in a long position by the end of the second phase.
