Ecoeye is proud to announce that its methane leakage reduction project in Uzbekistan (VCS 4531) has officially secured the CORSIA (Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation) Phase 1 label from Verra.

This designation marks a significant milestone for Ecoeye, enabling the supply of high-quality, eligible emission units to the international aviation sector. This achievement expands the project's impact well beyond the traditional voluntary carbon market, positioning it as a vital tool for global aviation decarbonization.

The VCS 4531 project, implemented in partnership with GasGreen Asia and EcoCarbon Services, operates across the Hududgaz gas distribution networks in Uzbekistan. By utilizing advanced Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) technology, the project systematically identifies and remediates methane leaks within aging gas infrastructure, preventing significant greenhouse gas emissions.

The CORSIA label reinforces the project’s standing as a high-integrity climate solution. In addition to this prestigious designation, the project has achieved:

• An AA rating from BeZero Carbon, reflecting a high level of confidence in the project’s climate impact

• Full alignment with the Core Carbon Principles (CCP) of the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM)

• Official authorization from the Government of Uzbekistan, granting approval for the international transfer of resulting emission reduction

Methane reduction has emerged as a cornerstone of international climate policy, most notably through the Global Methane Pledge, which seeks a 30% reduction in global methane emissions by 2030.

Because methane possesses a significantly higher global warming potential than carbon dioxide, the rapid deployment of LDAR initiatives is critical to achieving near-term climate targets. Through this project, Ecoeye continues to provide a scalable and measurable mechanism to deliver substantial, immediate climate impact.
