Ecoeye's Project Becomes the First VERRA VCU-Approved Project in Uzbekistan

Ecoeye has been investing in the project "Reduce Gas Leakages within Uzbekistan's Gas Distribution Networks" under the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) which has become the first VERRA VCU-approved project in Uzbekistan.

The project focused on detecting and repairing methane leaks within Uzbekistan since 2023, and Ecoeye's project partner, GasGreen Asia LLC has closely collaborated with local stakeholders, successfully identifying, measuring, and fixing over 50,000 individual leak points. Starting in Tashkent, the leak detection and repair efforts have expanded nationwide, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and advanced repair materials to enhance efficiency. As a result, over 7 million tonnes of CO2e emissions are expected to be reduced annually, which would significantly support climate mitigation efforts.

The project has created more than 200 local jobs by supporting project implementation and data management and has provided intensive training programs of project managers and data specialists.

In addition, the methodology used for the project, AM0023, received the CCP label in July 2024. This label, designed to ensure quality in the voluntary carbon market, is granted through IC-VCM's rigorous assessment process. It verifies that the GHG emission reductions from the mitigation activity are additional, permanent, and robustly quantified, assuring a high-integrity carbon credit.

Ecoeye looks forward to further collaboration with partners to generate real, verifiable climate impact by reducing massive methane leaks and enhancing global climate action.
